Analysts at IDC expect significant growth in the supply of 3D-printers in the coming years. These devices will soon become common household goods.
According to the forecast of IDC, by 2017 delivery of 3D-printers will increase 10 times, and in the short term supply growth will reach more than 2 times the value. Notes that in 2014 this market will come from HP. Konica Minolta also intends to begin distribution of high-end devices. Midrange solutions will offer Makerbot, Afinia and Lulzbot. Thus, the market will gradually be satisfied in different segments.
However, in 2014 the patent expires on the laser sintering technology. As a result, many small companies will be able to use this technology its decisions, which will open new possibilities for creating more sophisticated and inexpensive home 3D-printers.
