While users contemplating over two or four cores of the processor will have the next generation iPhone, manufacturers are actively developing eight-core chips for mobile devices.
As it became known, the company MediaTek plans to release the first true eight-core processor. A case in point is the potential inclusion in the work of all 8 cores in parallel. Yes, Samsung Exynos 5 Octa has become the world’s first eight-core mobile chip, which is set in the Samsung Galaxy S4. However, this naming is actually suspended. This processor is comprised of two units of four cores in each – Cortex-A7 and Cortex-A15, which are activated separately, depending on the current load and challenges. This configuration is called the ARM big.LITTLE.
MediaTek MT6592, built on 28-nanometer process technology, includes eight core Cortex-A7 processor with a clock frequency of 1.7 GHz (with a maximum of 2 GHz), which is responsible for multi-core video graphics solution Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX6.
Preliminary tests in the AnTuTu benchmark showed that the MediaTek MT6592 got to test 29,600 points. In other words, the processor could surpass the performance of today’s most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon chip 800.
It should be noted that the mobile OS are now in position much better than the system board in the past. They are ready to make full use of the advantages of “multi-core”. Now smartphones running parallel to a number of different processes: the music is playing, running the browser, and the phone is automatically synchronized with the satellite and the application checks for updates. For the processing of each of these tasks can use a single processor core. This means that it will allocate resources efficiently without unnecessary downtime.
