Begin to appear on the market the first smartphone running Firefox OS. Recently we wrote about the launch of sales of gadgets manufactured by Alcatel and ZTE , but there is another manufacturer that will soon release its first mass Firefox-smartphone, – Geeksphone.
Earlier Geeksphone already released Firefox-smartphones – Peak and Keon , but they were designed for software and games for the new platform (which, in general, it would not hurt to buy them and others interested). However, new development, Peak +, is aimed at the mass market.
As the name implies, the device is an improved version of the Peak. In fact, the upgrade is not particularly noticeable – a 2-fold increase in the amount of system memory (512 MB to 1 GB), and the smartphone is already running on the latest Firefox 1.1, which fixes bugs found in the first version of the system, and reduces system boot time.
Other specifications include a Firefox-smartphone dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 8225 processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, 4.3-inch IPS-display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, two cameras – 8-megapixel primary and 2 MP front, 4 GB of internal memory, expandable with microSD, modules Wi-Fi N, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, FM, GPS, and a standard set of wireless sensors.
Battery capacity – 1800 mAh. The smartphone works in networks of the second and third generations. The important point is the low cost of the device, which is Android-standards devaysom average – just 149 euros (6,300 rubles at current exchange rates). Geeksphone promises to deliver the ordered sets in mid-September.
