Apple is negotiating the takeover of one of the divisions of the Japanese company Renesas Electronics, which is engaged in the production of chips for smartphones displays. About this portal reported Nikkei, citing its own sources familiar with the situation.

Unit, which has its eye on Apple, is called Renesas SP Drivers. Half of the company is owned directly Renesas Electronics, 25% owned by Sharp, and the remaining share is assigned to Powerchip. It is reported that only half of the “apple” corporation agrees to put about half a billion dollars.
Renesas SP is one of the leading manufacturers of chips for small and medium-sized displays worldwide. The company owns a third of the world market, and its products allows devices to reduce energy consumption to 10%.
