ASUS returns to the attack segment of high-end video cards with a new product belonging to the ROG line and based on Radeon R9 290x. We speak of R9 290x DirectCU II OC, customized solution not only as regards the cooler but also for the PCB and consequently for the operating frequencies.
The board is equipped with the now famous DirectCU II cooler with a massive dual-fan technology Cooltech that involves the use of heatpipes 10mm and that reduces the noise level especially in UBER Mode, rising from 41 dBA to the reference version a more acceptable value declared by the company in 33 dBA.
As for the frequencies, ASUS offers the card overclocked to 1040 MHz for the GPU and 5.4 GHz 4 GB of GDDR5 memory with 512-bit bus. Currently we have no information on price and official launch date, but ASUS has plans to bring the product later this year. Let us assume a figure of around 550 Euro.
