During the conference, Canalys Channels Forum 2013 in Bangkok, HP CEO Meg Whitman outlined the company’s plans for the future and announced an expansion into new markets. According to her, in mid-2014, HP will release its own 3D-printer, reports The Register.
We can not pass by such a rapidly developing market. The more that HP has invaluable experience in this segment, able to soon take the company into the lead. At the moment the development of 3D-printers – this is one of the priorities of HP labs, – said Meg Whitman.
It is known that in the process of developing its own 3D-printer, HP will pay much attention to two main parameters: the time required to print the object, and the cost of the printer itself.
At the moment, 3D-printing technology is in its infancy. This is a great opportunity for HP and we use it to 100%. By the middle of 2014 we will have something to show, – added the CEO HP.
Unfortunately, more details of what will be a 3D-printer HP, Meg Whitman has not disclosed. It merely pointed out that it would be completely “new technology”.
