4. Select “Install drivers” option and click on the “Start” button.
5. After that go to website http://en.miui.com/a-234.html and download the official firmware for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
6. Extract all the files from the archive with the firmware.
7. Now download the modified cust.img file from this link.
8. Copy the downloaded file into the folder with the firmware, and replace it .
9. Run flash_tool.exe as administrator (Download in step 2).
10. Click on Download tab.
11. In the Download-Agent field, select the MTK_ All_In_ One file.bin, which is located in SP Flash Tool folder.
12. In the Scatter loading filefield, select MT6797_Android_scatter.txt, which is in the folder with firmware.
13. Uncheck the box next to the preloader.
14. Turn off Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
15. Click on Download button in the program window, hold down Volume Down key on the phone, and connect the smartphone to the computer via USB cable.
16. Hold Volume Down key until the yellow download line appears at the bottom of the screen.
17. Wait until the firmware download is complete. You will see a window with the word Download OK, as in the image below.
18. Now disconnect USB cable, and hold down Power key on smartphone.
19. Wait for about 15 minutes until the smartphone is restored.

Why difficult? Most Android smartphones have recovery mode. It allows to perform a hard reset. But Xiaomi devices come with locked bootloader. It means that you can not go into the recovery mode until you unlock the Bootloader.

Xiaomi Mi6 hard reset via Android device manager

The fastest and most convenient way to perform Xiaomi Mi6 hard reset is to use Android Device manager.  Note: Your smartphone should be synchronized with Google account, and you need to remember the login and password to enter it.

Go to Android Device Manager website and sign in to your Google account. Next, you’ll see a smartphone Xiaomi Mi6 (if you have several smartphones connected to your Google Account, select the one you need from the drop-down menu). There are three buttons at the bottom.
