The latest version of Lightroom appeared tool for automatic correction of such problems, and more recently, even more powerful variant thereof and got Photoshop CC. It is about Perspective Warp Tool and I’ll tell you.

If Lightroom image correction need only basic: fix the horizon, return parallelism removed “from the bottom” of the building, or do both at once, in Photoshop task more difficult. As a trivial example – set the correct perspective objects, collecting a complex collage of photos. Of course, the real masters of Photoshop can deal with this problem by using simple tools for modifying the image, but it took a good spatial imagination and time-consuming.

Working with this tool is divided into two stages, which can be navigated buttons on the toolbar. In the first stage you need to set the reference plane of your image, specify the program that is – what your photo is parallel “in life.” To do this, place the image “grid” and link them to the appropriate objects in the image. These virtual plane can be combined (in fact, most often it needs to be done to achieve the best results), indicating where the “face” of the object, which we will transform. It’s enough to take the edge planes to each other, they are highlighted, and the “grid” unite together.

Setting the edge, you can switch directly to the transformation mode. In this mode, you move the vertex, and Photoshop to change the image so that it faces coincided with the edges formed by the grid. An interesting feature: if you hold down the Shift key and click on one of the faces, Photoshop will make its vertical (or horizontal, depending on the situation), it is useful, for example when shooting architecture.

Anything that does not fall into transformable space, Photoshop will try to preserve as much as possible intact. Most “loss” is located on the edge of the image, so after correcting geometry, or you will need to crop a picture, or “to finish” missing using a large arsenal of Photoshop.

To complete the theme Camera RAW, it should be noted very useful novelty. In Photoshop CC is not just a module handling RAW-files, but also a full-fledged multi-filter that can be used in a system of layers (with blending modes and algorithms merge). In principle, a similar focus has been possible for a long time (thanks to the free script Edit Layers in ACR from Dr. Russell Brown , by the way, be sure to check his other scripts), but it became easier and easier for beginners.

The next portion of the changes in one way or another, related to the sharpness.

The mechanism of the size of the image is reorganized. First, it is now an additional window on top of the moving image. Secondly, there was a lot of useful presets that reduce the time to work on projects. Third, and perhaps most importantly – recycled algorithms enlarge images. Two choices – from sharpening and without it, the results are impressive. Previously had to use third-party plug-ins. A twofold increase in the quality of the originals is given the program easily.

 Smart Sharpen filter will be needed more than its predecessor: it appeared separately controlled intensity sharpening in highlights and shadows, and the creation of masks is controlled by two sliders – the tone and blur.

Unfortunately, the rate is still not high, but there is a parallel noise reduction.

For my taste, the new algorithm does not give such a “ringing” image as a combination of two layers with classic Unsharp Mask and blending modes Lighten and Darken the same values ​​of strength and sharpening radius.

Instrument Shake Reduction managed to spoil the reputation, pointing to the MAX conference in 2011 to work with pre-prepared in a graphics editor shots. He was expected to CS6, but there he did not show up.

As frank marriage, which previously belonged and the “camera shake”, I try to delete, find a lot of files to experiment failed. It is clear that to revive damaged when shooting frame – a very difficult task. If the colors are distorted, helps translate into shades of gray. But remove the parts that are not actually … you can mathematically calculate, but the chances of hitting the target are slim.

To describe the experience in one word, it would be “mediocre.” Maybe one more step on the average EV telezume. If the displacement of the camera was a strong and uniform (as is often the case when shooting SLR cameras – the rise of the mirror gives a boost to the body), then the chance is great artifacts in the form of an additional circuit.

Perhaps in the next version of the result will be better. At least, that was the case with technology, Content Aware (it is used among others in the Shake Reduction).

However, not all that bad. Sometimes (when applied to the camera motion nerazmytym HR) Shake Reduction produces better results than the Smart Sharpen and other sharpening filters.

Non-destructive editing technology, embodied in the Smart Object, continues to evolve. In the SS version adds support for two important filters – Blur Galery and Liqufy. This means that at any stage of editing, you can return to configure their settings, and these changes will be immediately addressed. In stratified keeping to regulations, you can return even after reopening the file.
